Sometimes you just get the urge to pack your bag and get-away for the weekend. That's happened to me many times, and I've gotten used to packing for a quick weekend away from the city.
My 7 Must-Haves For a Quick Weekend Get Away
1. Layers
Since I live in the Pacific Northwest, the weather can change pretty dramatically just an hour outside the city. So, I would generally pack a few tanks, a short sleeve Tee, one long sleeve Tee and a light weather proof jacket. I'll throw in a scarf, beanie and fingerless gloves and a few socks as well. For pants, I'll just throw in a few leggings and a pair of jean shorts.
2. Shoe Options
You never know what your destination has in store, so I would generally pack a pair of flip-flops (cuz my little piggies love to breathe), tennis shoes and a pair of hiking shoes. Rarely do I pack high-heels anymore.
3. Road Trip food & Favorite Coffee
There something about the open road and snacking along the way. I'll see what I have in the pantry and toss them in my bag. I'll also grab our favorite coffee and cream. No matter where we're at in the world, it feels like home to me and Steve if we have our coffee and cream with us.
4. Minimal Make-Up & Sunscreen
I'm pretty low-maintenance when it comes to make-up anyways. I'll grab my "minimalist" make-up kit from Sephora that I've curated myself. The kit contains a powder, blush, eye shadows and eye brow power. My brushes are able to be re-purposed, so I'll have one readily available. Oh! Don't forget the sunscreen!
5. Bathing Suit or Swim Trunks
Some locations might have a lake you can jump into or if you're staying at a hotel, there might just be a swimming pool there. So grab your favorite bathing suit or swim trunks!
6. Electronic/Battery Pack/Cables
As much as I believe I should be off the grid, I try to stay connected and charged. I'll pack my batter pack and gadget organizer bag so that I can charge all my devices. I love taking pictures of my travels, so my phone needs to be charged all the time. I also pack my iPad because I have e-books loaded there and when I'm sitting by the fire, I love to catch up on my reading.
7. Hats
Whether I'm heading to the mountains, or hitting the beach, I always have to have at least one hat with me. This way, I can keep the sun off my face if I'm at the beach or throw my hat on when I'm hiking. Who wants to worry about washing their hair on a quick get-away??
There you have it! This is my list and I believe it's a list that will work for most of us! Have ideas or suggestions, email us at info@shopwanderwear.com. We'd love to hear from you!
